About
Phu Quoc, forest first
Phu Quoc Discovery is an independent brand that sells private small-group day trips on Phu Quoc island. Most visitors see the island's beaches; we start with its forest and streams, then add the sea, the islands and the road. Every departure is only you and the people you travel with.

What we do
We sell ten day trips on Phu Quoc. Five go into the forest: a slow herbal walk, a full stream-and-ridge trek, a climb to Tien Son peak and the Bat Cave, a stream day with a forest BBQ, and an evening walk. The other five go to sea or along the coast: islands by canoe, the Hon Thom cable car, a river kayak in the north, a heritage day in the south and a sunset beach camp.
Each one is a private day: your group, your guide, your vehicle. There are no join-in groups, so nobody waits for strangers and the pace is set by the slowest person you chose to travel with. Groups run from two people up to ten or twelve, depending on the tour.
Hotel pick-up is included in Duong Dong, Ong Lang and Bai Truong (Long Beach), where most visitors stay. Hotels in the south around An Thoi and in the far north are collected too, with a supplement that we quote with the price, so it never appears for the first time on the day.
Why the forest comes first
Phu Quoc has forested hills and streams that most visitors never enter. It is also where a good guide makes the most difference: knowing which plants local people used in folk practice, where the stream is safe to cross, and when to turn back in rain. A beach needs no explanation; a forest walk does.
So the forest days carry the most detail on this site, and the choosing a trek page exists to help you pick the right one rather than the hardest one.
Who is with you on the day
The forest programmes are run by local guides who know these trails and streams; you can see their work on their Facebook page, Phu Quoc Discovery. On the herbal days, the afternoon is hosted by a traditional herbal practitioner at the herbal farm. On sea days, our boat partner provides the canoe, the captain and the snorkel gear.
We do not name every farm, boat or restaurant on the site, because the exact one can change with the season and the date. What we do is confirm them in your quote, in writing, before you pay.
How we write these pages
- Numbers over adjectives. Kilometres, start times, ages, activity levels and reference prices, stated plainly.
- Planned is not confirmed. Where a route is still being measured, we say planned, and the confirmed distance goes into your quote.
- Every tour says who should not book it. A hard trek is a bad day for weak knees, and we would rather lose that booking than spoil that day.
- No medical claims. Herbal content is described as folk remedy or traditional practice. Nothing on a herbal day is presented as a treatment.
- No invented reviews. There are no testimonials or star ratings here. When we have real ones, with permission, we will show them as they are.
- Seasons told straight. Shallow pools in the dry months, slippery rocks in the wet ones, sea days that can be cancelled.
How prices and payment work
Each tour shows a reference price, from a figure in USD per person. The real price depends mostly on how many people are in your group, and is quoted for each request once we know the group size, the date and the hotel area. Larger groups pay less per person. The pricing page sets out every reference price.
Payment is 100% at confirmation, by card link or bank transfer. There are no deposits, and nothing is charged before your date is confirmed. If we cancel for weather or safety, you get a full refund or another day.
What we do not do
- Join-in groups. Every departure is private.
- Overnight trips or multi-day packages. We sell day trips only; even the beach camp brings you back to your hotel by about 21:00.
- Take children under 12 on Trek & Heal or Tien Son Peak.
- Send anyone into a stream in heavy rain, or hold a guide to a route the weather has made unsafe.
- Pick, dig or break plants in the forest. The herbal walk is look and learn.
- Ask for card numbers or passport copies by email.
On the herbal days, the farm has a small shop of its products. Buying anything there is optional, and nothing in it is part of the price.
What we are not good at
- Large groups. Our tours stop at ten or twelve people.
- Hard mountain or multi-day trekking. The hardest day here is 4 of 5, and there is nothing at 5.
- The cheapest possible seat. A private day costs more per person than a shared bus, especially for two people.
- Last-minute certainty in the rainy season. Guides may shorten or cancel a forest route on the day.

Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Are your tours private?
Yes. Every departure is only you and the people you travel with, with your own guide. We do not run join-in groups.
Why do you show reference prices rather than fixed prices?
Because the price per person depends on how many of you there are. We quote each request once we know group size, date and hotel area, and larger groups pay less per person.
Why are there no reviews on the site?
Because we will not write or buy them. Real reviews, shared with permission, will appear when we have them.
